A Deeper Dive...

Let’s face it, AI is a hot topic today – and rightly so. Kevin Williams, our founder, led and conducted foundational AI research in knowledge acquisition for almost three decades. One day he made the painstaking decision to walk away from his life’s work and focus his efforts on smarter human wellness – a nobler pursuit by all measures. His reasoning was simple: AI doesn’t know the difference between good and evil and relies on human ethics, compassion, and reasoning to make such determinations. What could possibly go wrong?

The potentially draconian societal implications once mentally explored by Kevin and his colleagues over cocktails in Silicon Valley are rapidly becoming today’s uninvited reality – and in ways no one could have imagined.
Today’s latest artificial intelligence race is coming to an end. Those hired to make AI a reality by monolithic companies like Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, X, and others are being laid off to make way for new talent to usher in the new age of General Intelligence (GI) – the thinking we humans use to function daily. Fortunately, GI is almost impossible to replicate with our current knowledge of the brain and how it works. The truth is we know more about the dark side of the moon and Earth’s ocean floor than how our brains work – and not even the most powerful computers, Wall Street, and the best marketing minds can change this reality.

That said, the current iteration of AI has resulted in some interesting technologies including “Generative AI.” Simply put, Generative AI creates new content and ideas, including conversations, stories, images, videos, and music – mostly from content it unethically and illegally scrapes from the Internet. (Thank goodness everything on the Internet is true!) Generative AI has the potential to learn human language, programming languages, art, chemistry, biology, or any complex subject matter. It reuses what it knows (correct, incomplete, or incorrect) to solve new problems. For example, it can learn English vocabulary and create a poem from the words it processes. Organizations use generative AI for various applications including chatbots, media creation, product development, design – and also music and film creation.
So, is generative AI bad? Not necessarily… but only if others are honest about its use. Unfortunately, honesty isn’t anything humans excel at these days. There’s the rub.

Build It (or Sing It) and They Will Come
When it comes to creative pursuits, generative AI is blurring the lines in many exploitive dangerous, and expensive ways. You can go to any number of AI music sites, type in an idea and the site will create new music around your idea within seconds with one click – and some of it is pretty convincing! In contrast, each Life Environments experience can require more than 6 months to create by professional production teams – a dramatically more expensive and time-consuming production model. In other words, there simply are no shortcuts if you want to achieve a Life Environments-level experience.
Then there’s copyright law – well, sort of. AI-generated media is theoretically not copyrightable in the United States. However, that determination is made by a simple checkbox on the copyright application selected by the applicant – and there are no ways to reliably verify claims of authentic artistic origination beyond that.

What about streaming platform limitations? AI-generated music is not permitted on most distribution platforms including Apple, Tidal, Spotify, SoundCloud, Deezer, etc. Just kidding - it is! Platforms do nothing about AI music until a copyright claim is made. Streaming platform Deezer estimates upwards of one-third (28% as of 9/11/2025) of their songs are AI-generated and falsely labeled as “human-created.” The fact is that none of these platforms do anything about fraudulent creation claims. When you combine these problems with billions of fake robot listens, remembering that artists get paid from a now-diluted revenue pool based on the number of streams they have on a distribution platform based on its revenue, it becomes easy to see how unethical and potentially illegal AI-driven music and media are harming human creatives, the art they create, and how we enjoy art.
Perhaps the most ironic part is that AI scrapes the Internet for human-produced art, video, and music without the artist’s permission to create new music based on the artist’s own music!
What a mess.

Soooo...How Does This Affect Me?

Actually, in many ways. Unlike many of the largest “relaxation” companies that deliver nature and music based on significant AI-generated content, Life Environments captures live nature in lifelike 3D ways your brain loves and responds to almost like real nature. Life Environments inhibits your stress responses while refreshing your mind and brain naturally and safely – something AI-generated media simply cannot deliver.

While most AI-generated experiences won’t harm you, neither will they help you. Life Environments experiences are simply different – they’re better.

Our Promise to You...

The nature and music you experience at Life Environments cannot be replicated. Not only are our lifelike experiences captured in live environments, but they are also rigorously produced for first-generation accuracy using proprietary encoding and tested with live humans to ensure safety and efficacy. Our technology cannot be copied, and computers cannot replicate what we do.

However, there is one exception. We occasionally license abstract video backgrounds for our musical ambient productions. We make every effort to ensure these are not AI generated; however, we cannot reasonably guarantee the reliability of artistic origination statements. We are currently working on a new solution to ensure we only use human-created content.

At Life Environments, we value and support the human spirit – and respect you. We will never use AI music or video in our productions. We can guarantee this because we create our works in live nature and in our own production facilities.
You can rest assured you are always getting nature’s best and most lifelike performances with Life Environments. That’s our promise!
